ENJOY THE CLASSICS 0

Danville, CA, – Enjoy The Classics October 22nd, 2011 … So what is this Event all About?  Within the Club, it is commonly referred to as Scotch & Cigar which leads to connotations of a smoke filled room with devout scotch-soaked inebriants…  Quite the contrary… It is San Ramon Valley Rotary Club’s annual classy black tie optional event that provides us an opportunity to share some great times with the community and fellow Rotarians.

It is an event that is just as much oriented to couples as it is to great friends getting together.  It is held each year at the Crow Canyon Country Club in Danville CA with socializing starting at 6:00 PM.  Be sure and arrive on time as we start the evening early announced by our favorite bagpiper.

The scotch whiskey is exhibited and presented in a great format by world renowned whisky master, Steve Beal.  Last year, he exhibited premium Johnnie Walker greats and more from the Diageo brands.  He introduced us to the Johnnie Walker. Walk! .  The previous year he took us on a tour of the classic regions of Scotland …. From the smoky peat tastes to classic smoothes.   This year, we will further our knowledge of good Scotch Whiskey and also have a great presentation on the backgrounds and types of cigars.

Raffine Chocolates will sponsor the chocolate tasting led by our fellow Rotarian, Mona Keady, of the Danville/Sycamore Club.  She will provide a presentation of handmade chocolates for sampling which will also be paired with particular Scotches.  So, if you heart isn’t into the scotch nor the cigars, you will be able to still enjoy a fine dinner and participate in the chocolate sampling.

And Be Prepared.  Since this is a Rotary event, we will have our great live and silent auction again that allows us to continue our work in the community.  Proceeds of the auction fund the annual Bill Gregory Scholarship awards. This is a special scholarship program for local high school seniors who have distinguished themselves in community service.

Ticket sales have been extremely brisk this year so we recommend you don’t wait.  Contact your favorite San Ramon Valley Rotarian to sit with them, visit our website at www.sanramonvalleyrotary.com or email us at EnjoyTheClassics@sanramonvalleyrotary.com

What is it like to be a Rotary Club President? 0

What’s harder, being the President of the USA or being the president of your local Rotary club?  Well, discounting the various perks of the former, the two jobs can seem very similar.  ”Herding cats and cutting compromises all while maintaining a positive spin and saving the world on a daily basis!”  Listen in as the presidents of our 6 local Rotary clubs discuss the in’s and out’s of their year “in charge”, nominally at least, of these completely autonomous groups of  independent thinkers and go-getters known as our local Rotary clubs.
